Half way to the 'Education for All' deadline and 774 million people are still waiting to learn (by Global Campaign for Education)
In 2000 governments around the world promised to reduce adult illiteracy by half by 2015. This year we are half way to that deadline but almost no progress has been made. Even if it was written in their mother tongue, nearly a billion adults, two thirds of them women, could not read this sentence.
