I would like to connect with you there also. I am trying to make more friends and fans so that I can spread awareness for breast cancer during pregnancy. I was diagnosed Stage 3 in the 5th month of my pregnancy in May. My status updates on Facebook and LinkedIn are usually about my fight.
Hi Joram, the answers to your questions are embedded in religious and spiritual literature, although somewhat watered down and changed throughout time and translation.
God is neither up there, down there or in any one place, god is omnipresence.
Somewhere back in the past some devious person or sect with a will to control the masses externalised the concept of god, making god separate and above one and all.
Being separate to god makes god a usable commodity, that can have representatives of many ranks. Also this means a set of rules and laws can be imposed to control and regulate those that worship the parts of themselves that has been externalised.
Sects like the Catholics took this a step further and not only stole god, but 'good' from the souls of their followers, introducing the belief of original sin in that we are all born sinners.
There is one more quality of externalisation that has been the responsibility for zillions of deaths throughout time, being that what is external can be used as a cause or blame.
Shifting the responsibility of one’s personal actions onto an imaginary externalised part has justified the killing of many in god's name.
I use the word ‘god's’ as many faiths have their own projection of what qualities their god has and thus the deadly game of 'my god is better than your god can be played' (note this is game play is far more viable when god is perceived as separate and external part)
Any internal mental disorder can manifest its self throughout a group. So it’s possible to have neurotic or psychotic group as well as an individual.
Group beliefs are self confirming and empowering, especially those in organisations where it is seen as wrong to question the belief.
So under the power of the beliefs (set with the use of spelling and words) the group 'literally' becomes 'spell bound!'
In reality god is inside us all and outside us all and we are all a parts of god and the greater whole.
This is reflected well in the statement god helps those whom help themselves. That's not to say, we do everything alone. It is important to realise 'that we get by with a little help from our friends' as in reality we are 'all' part of something that is far greater and complex to put to words. (The Tao that can be spoken is not the internal Tao)
In essence being the parts of a greater whole makes us all responsible for our own actions/reactions with other parts of the greater whole. 'I am you and you are me and we are all together'
This whole would not only include humans, but the world we live in the food and the water we drink, the air we breathe, the planet we live in etc.
Internalising god re-empowers and ignites the soul giving it life, enthusiasm and a purpose of being.
Or is that BE IN? :O) Now where did that 'g' go?
Greetings, your friend ....Steve
PS: You may already know all this, but at least you have an idea of my point of view, being both spiritual and scientific.
