Today is the day, Dream Fun Experiment Number Six Participant!

Thank you for participating. Any time after the experiment, please go to my Intention Experiment page to enter your submission as a comment to me. I’ll reveal the key a few days after the experiment.

I would like to talk a little bit about what constitutes a “hit”. Dreamers dream in symbols and associations. In your dream you may dream explicitly of the object or dream of something that is your association for an aspect the object. You may weave an attribute of the key into the fabric of your dream content. It is for this reason that I would like you to include as much detail in your submission as you are comfortable with.
In my opinion it would be beneficial for you to approach this experiment with as much excitement as you can muster. State your intention and trust that it will be carried out. Expect to have a wonderful experience. A sense of child-like play will yield the most practical results (ironically!).

Away we go! Here are Toby’s instructions:

Hello fellow Dreamers,
Welcome to Dream Experiment No. 6.
I, Toby, am the key holder.
You are invited to a gathering during the next 24 hours at my house in Glendale, Arizona. I will prepare no food because dreaming guests eat very little, but don’t think me a poor hostess because something very important will lie on the dining table. Yes, you guessed it – the key, the object I have chosen, will remain on the table for the 24-hour period of our experiment. After you awaken, record your dream and post it as a comment on Bill Schuh’s page on this website.
My technique for recording dreams is to lay a spiral notebook on my bedside table, date the top of the page, and leave the pen. Then, as soon as I awaken, whether during the night or in the morning, I pick up the pen and start writing the very first thoughts. I don’t sit up because the fragile images and ideas often float away. You may want to try this technique if you haven’t already.
There are many other ways to discover the key. You might have a gut feeling or premonition. You might learn the identity of the object through clairvoyance, astral travel, or remote viewing, one of my favorite methods. You might dream of the key without recall then the next day have an intuition. You might discover the key during meditation, contemplation, or relaxing in the tub. You may just know what it is right now. All of these paths to discernment are appropriate.
Thanks for accepting my invitation. I’ll see you in my dreams.
Love and light,
Toby

Hello Dream Fun Experiment Number Six Participant,
Please look for an instruction comment posted by me on your Intention Experiment page next Sunday, May 4, 2008. I’ll send it between 8 AM and 8 PM Central Daylight Savings Time.
Toby is the keyholder for this round. You may want to visit her Intention Experiment page and leave a comment to say hi! If desired, please click the “Members” tab on the Intention Experiment website. When there, enter “Toby” in the box and click “Search Members”. Find “Toby Heathcotte” in the results of your search and click her name or photo to get to her page.

Here is a link that a participant provided to help with dream recall:

Toby has already selected the key object for this experiment. There is a possibility that you may intuit the key before the experiment next week. Because of this, you may want to keep a record of any intuitions or dreams that you have between now and the time after the experiment when I reveal the key. I’ll accept anything from you between now and then.
If you have any questions, feel free to click on my photo here to leave a comment on my IE page.

Thanks very much for participating. If the previous Dream Fun Experiments are any indication, then you can expect something wonderful during the experiment. I’m very excited about the prospect.

Peace and Love,
Bill

Today is the day, Dream Fun Experiment Number Five participant!
Thank you for participating.
Away we go!
Kate is the keyholder. This is her message followed by her instructions:

The latest edition of the Dream Experiment will commence in the next 24 hours.

So many good suggestions have been made on how to best prepare for the Dream Experiment, I'll try not to duplicate or restate too much but some of Bill's original instructions were just too good to not include them.

The most important thing is to convince your subconscious that you intend to identify the key in your dreams and that you will then remember the dream (and the key!). Meditation and affirmations work for me, so I will be constantly thinking about the key and how I will meet up with each of you in MY dreams when I go to sleep.

Typically when I am participating in the experiment, I tell myself that I WILL be experiencing the gathering and that I WILL remember doing so and I WILL remember the key. A friend of mine tells himself that he has ALREADY gone to the gathering and found the key, and now all he needs to do is remember the trip. Either way, the most important thing is to not leave any room for failure. If you fall asleep with the belief that you will definitely succeed then odds are better than not that you will!

Feel free to have soft music, nature sounds or white noise in the background at your discretion. I personally listen to an MP3 player loaded with all of the above as well as affirmations, and even a couple of subliminal tracks. (I believe in covering all my bases!)

Remember to have paper and writing utensils at your bedside! If you're the sort to wake up in mid-night to take a trip to the facilities, stick a pad and pencil in there too -- it can't hurt! Several studies have found that if you remember a part of your dream upon awakening and immediately begin jotting it down, you will not only recall what’s fresh in your mind, you will most likely remember details as you go. Every minute that you wait (or are distracted) from the time you awaken even when your recall is excellent, you’re more likely to lose many (or all) of the details.

As with previous experiments:

1. We will accept any responses that you may have, regardless if you remember a dream or not.
2. You may have perceived the key before the experiment time frame, whether during a dream or having an intuition as to what the key is before the experiment begins.
3. It is possible to “do the work” in the dream state, not remember any dream, and then later have an intuition as to what the key is.
4. You may remember your dream from the experiment later.
5. You may dream of the key on a night after the experiment night, but before the key is revealed.

What constitutes a hit? Dreamers dream in symbols. In your dream you may dream explicitly of the key object or you may dream of a symbol for the object. Those who scan for “hits” will therefore have a lot of leeway in their interpretation. If you have an intuition that your dream somehow has to do with this experiment, send it to Bill! Click on his photo here to leave a comment.
The phrasing of the instructions is deliberately affirmative and concise.
There is no equivocation. Please don’t be put off. I’m doing this on purpose because I believe doing so will help in achieving our aims. Of course you are free to use your own techniques, but I would like you to include this intention:
I WANT TO DREAM ABOUT A GATHERING WHERE I BECOME AWARE OF THE OBJECT.
Expect to have this dream. Imagine what it will be like when you awake and remember a dream about a gathering!
It may help to specifically think of me, Kate, as I am the key holder this time around.
Here are the instructions:

I WILL REMEMBER MY DREAM(S) UPON AWAKENING IN THE MORNING.
KATE IS THE KEYHOLDER AND SHE HAS THE ITEM I AM SEEKING.
I WILL DREAM OF A GATHERING AT WHICH I WILL ENCOUNTER KATE.
AT THIS GATHERING, I WILL LEARN THE IDENTITY OF THE KEY.
WHEN I AWAKEN, I WILL WRITE DOWN ALL OF THE DETAILS FROM MY DREAM(S). NO MATTER HOW UNIMPORTANT THE DETAIL SEEMS. IF I FEEL IT COULD BE RELATED TO THE KEY OR THE GATHERING, I WILL INCLUDE IT IN MY REPORT.

As has been suggested previously, use whatever works for you! Just be sure to include the points of becoming aware of the key at a gathering.

See you in our dreams!

Hi Annette,
Thanks for your interest. I’ll include you in the next one. It will be fun!
If you are interested in improving your dream recall, here is a link that one of the participants provided to the group:
http://www.lucidity.com/NL11.DreamRecall.html
The Dream Fun Experiment is based on the premise that the dream state is a shared environment.
If you are interested in reading the reports on previous experiments, they are in my comment history. Please click "View All Comments" on my page and then go back to February 17, December 2, October 14 and September 11. The reports are posted as a series of comments from me to me. (Sorry about the hassle of getting to them!)
Here's the experiment outline:
1. Meet in a dream location with other participants.
2. The key is a dream object decided upon ahead of time by one member.
3. Let's say the target 24 hour period for the experiment is the upcoming Thursday. I’ll enter a comment on all the participants’ pages on, say, the Sunday before, telling them to look for a comment on their page on Thursday.
4. The Thursday comment will say something like “IN THE NEXT 24 HOURS YOU WILL DREAM OF A GATHERING WHERE YOU BECOME AWARE OF THE KEY.”
5. That key holder member goes to sleep during that period with the intention (!) of meeting the other participants at a common meeting place and conveying to the others what the key is.
6. The participants go to sleep during that period with the intention (!) of having a dream where they are meeting others and become aware of a particular object.
7. The participants write down on the next morning, or whenever, any dreams that stick out.
8. If they think a dream is pertinent to the experiment, they leave a comment for me on my page with the content. If some insights come before or after the experiment period I will take those too.
9. I have a small Access database that I enter the responses.
10. The results are analyzed to see if anyone recognized what the key was. The responses are shared in case someone else wanted to scan them also for "hits".
11. I report back to you all with the results.
12. The key holder role is held by a different participant for each experiment.

I’m offering this in the spirit of fun.
Peace and Love,
Bill
